His path into care
Medicine, with room for the whole person.
Dr. Mehta studied medicine at UCLA, completed his internship at Cedars-Sinai, and returned to UCLA for his residency in radiation oncology. Working with people facing cancer deepened his interest in the daily experiences that accompany medical care: finding support, managing stress, and making room for the things that give life meaning.
During his training, global health work took him to Barretos, Brazil. That experience became an important part of his professional story and inspired him to learn Portuguese. It also shaped a lasting interest in communicating across cultures and understanding the person behind a health concern.
Beyond the consultation
Movement. Music. A sense of belonging.
Alongside medicine, Dr. Mehta has a background in dance and choreography. Music and movement have long been a source of expression and connection in his own life. They also prompted him to explore how people can feel more involved in their wellbeing, whatever their starting point.
His interests extend to nutrition, rest, stress, and relationships. What connects these interests is an attention to quality of life: what matters to someone, what feels manageable, and how care can make space for their everyday experience. This perspective is part of what brings him to Allura.
How our paths crossed
A connection built on trust.
Luiz first met Dr. Mehta during a difficult chapter for his family. Being able to communicate in Portuguese helped create understanding and trust when they needed it most. The relationship began with a personal conversation about care, long before there was a conversation about working together.
That connection now becomes part of Allura's next chapter. Dr. Mehta joins a team brought together by a shared belief that clinical care and human warmth belong in the same experience.

As Medical Director, Dr. Mehta oversees medical care and sees patients at Allura. He works alongside Camila Castro, PA-C, our Lead Clinical Provider, and the wider team to bring a coordinated perspective to clinical assessments and treatment planning.
